ROMANTICISING YOUR LIFE THE TRIVIAL WAY~ Lizaa Khan

The only way how someone ever romanticises life according to the books and movies, is going on a date with someone of the opposite gender. The rest of the representation that is out there is mostly YouTubers making a video at the beginning of every new season about "how to do ABC, yada yada..." and mind you, the aesthetics of those videos immediately lift your mood up (humas have been, irrespective of gender ATP, visual creatures when it comes to learning or paying attention to something that may have the key to their 'queries') thereby making you go into a full- blown scrolling ritual and suddenly it is morning to night in the bat of an eyelid.

But let's just ground ourselves here for a bit--- not everyone is a content creator, not everyone would want to set up a platform, put on the appropriate amount of makeup and then find a purpose related to the aforementioned. Then what do we do?

Here is what we WILL NOT do:

a. Rewind to the time when things were 'better' supposedly. Now we all know, it is not true. Progress is always forward moving, never backwards. I mean, we aren't getting any younger but look at your journey so far, look how far you have come despite the odds and several nights of "Oh my God..  I wanna die!!!!"

b. We will not walk around with a chip on our shoulder about how easy it is for everyone and hard for us. We have our own gifts, others have their own. Some people are praying for the things we have and we are at least living with one of the things (blessings) we had once wished for.

c. We won't be ungrateful on a daily basis. We will not ignore what things we consider unimportant. So, we will not forget to thank the Higher Power for the least or minimal that we have. Gratitude is a miracle magnet, I shouldn't have to remind you.

Now, in order to romanticise your life even if there is nothing special going on, you must first look at yourself, quite literally.

  • Go to your wardrobe, choose colours that DO NOT  resonate with you any longer, Throw them out. Some colours bring your vibration down, it is a fact.
  • Pick a book that is easy for you to comprehend. There is no need to look intellectual if you can't even understand what is laid in front of you. Pick up any book, could be a comic book or some school kid's book that has colours or pictures. Be comfortable with the idea of reading, first and foremost. You need to put that DAMN PHONE away!
  • Take yourself out on a date. It could be to the nearest coffee shop that has nothing fancy but the coffee is decent. You may not find a boyfriend/ girlfriend but someone could become your friend very easily. Some of my best friends chanced upon me randomly at a public spot and from strangers we went on to become bum-chums.
  • Journal Journal Journal. Your head is a dustbin, honestly. Some of the thoughts and ideas you keep storing unnecessarily shouldn't even make space for themselves. Your hard drive should have information that is useful, not trash. You could do with less curiosity, trust me on that. Buy colourful stationery, pens, stickers, etc. Go back to your arts and crafts days in school.
  • The first thing they teach you in therapy is to go back to doing things you did as a kid. The reason being, when you are a kid, you are less judgemental. You do things anyway, without the fear of being judged or wondering what loss will come by. Be like that kid, yet again. Some of the ideas fed to you when you were turning into an adult were fed by people who were scared to be themselves. You do not have to be like them. Break the monotony.
  • If you want to notice anything at all, notice Nature and natural elements. Nature is a Healer, we do not appreciate it enough. Try it.
  • Skip tarot readings, astrology and whatever these GURUS on the internet keep barking about. For more explanation see blog: anjashisarkar.medium.com
  • Get some sunshine everyday. Vitamin D keeps the D- word away.
  • Use celestial events (new moon, full moon) to retreat and stay away from drama. No rituals needed but the collective energy is always chaotic. So, meditate. Go inwards. Paying attention to everything happening in the world will drive you crazy.
  • Walk. Move your body. Lack of physical activity will disrupt your serotonin supply and increase your cortisol levels. Life 'looks' stagnant because your body is 'stagnant'. Hence, MOVE.
  • Cut out junk. Eat more greens. Include enough proteins. A majority of your issues are because your body lacks nutrients. Increase your water intake. Take care of your body. That's the only thing that will be with you till your last breath.
  • Find a hobby. Gardening is grounding. So is rearranging your wardrobe or changing the way your room, bookshelf or cupboard looks. Stuck energy does no good.

DARK ACADEMIA IS AN AESTHETIC EMOTION ~ Lizaa Khan

Dark Academia has emerged in the twenty-first century as a prominent aesthetic and cultural movement, characterized by its fascination with classical learning, Gothic environments, and intellectual melancholy. While popularized through digital culture, the aesthetic draws deeply from historical academic traditions, European architectural heritage, Romantic literary movements, and twentieth-century campus narratives. This article examines the historical lineage of Dark Academia, explores its thematic continuity across literature and film, and situates its modern resurgence within broader socio-cultural contexts. Dark Academia is not merely an aesthetic; it is a quiet rebellion dressed in wool coats and candlelight. It is a world where the pursuit of knowledge becomes both seduction and salvation, where worn-out books carry the weight of centuries, and where the soul wanders the corridors of thought in search of meaning. To step into Dark Academia is to step into a timeless sanctuary of ...

THE FORSYTES vs BRIDGERTON

The resurgence of period drama in contemporary television has taken two distinct yet overlapping directions: the preservation of literary realism and the reinvention of history through spectacle and accessibility. The Forsytes (2025), adapted from The Forsyte Saga, and Bridgerton, produced by Netflix, exemplify these divergent approaches. While both series explore aristocratic or upper-middle-class societies structured by marriage, wealth, and social codes, they differ fundamentally in tone, narrative ambition, and ideological framing. A close comparison reveals not only how each interprets the past, but also how they reshape it to resonate with modern audiences.   At the core of their difference lies philosophy of adaptation. The Forsytes attempts, albeit imperfectly, to remain tethered to the moral and psychological concerns of Galsworthy’s original work. It is preoccupied with property, inheritance, and the emotional cost of possession—particularly embodied in the character of...
